Anyone have load suggestions for the TK 2000?

 I have had this TK 2000 for several years now and never shot it. I am curious to see how it shoots and I am not to sure how to load it. It has the factory choke in it. Is this choke removable? Any info is greatly appreciated.

You got to take it off to get it loaded.

Mine really stunk on patterns. I didn't get a aftermarket tube, but would if I still owned it.

I think I put 2 oz of #6 shot with 100 grains of pyrodex and never got it more than a 100 pellets in the turkey target at 40 yards. And I played with the powder amounts etc.  BTW, this is a brute on the shoulder and nuckles....get a shooters friend for it. Start with 80 grains of powder and 2oz of shot and take your time! don't try and take 2 days to get it patterned and ready.

Choke has to come out to load if ya use the plastic cups. Used to be able to find the Knight magnum cups for it.  I just load by weight (1 7/8 oz)and use wonder wads between powder and shot.  They will fit down the choke if ya push.  Also skip the pyrodex and go to 777 or something.  Cleaning is MUCH easier. What ever pyrodex load you shoot scale it back to 85%. For instance ifyou shoot 100 grs pyrodex..shoot 85 grains 777.  Try it with a duplex or triplex load of 4's, 6's and sometimes 7's.  That is lead.  You can get better patterns using plated shot or one of the HTL shot. Also give some thought to an aftermarket choke tube.

Mine patterns great to 40 with the factory choke.  I shot 100 grains of pyrodex.  Took a Knight wad and carefully taped it up on the outside and used this as my shot measurer.  It weighed out to about 2 oz.  Poured the powder in, seated the shot wad on the powder, poured the shot in and topped with a shot cap.  Killed four with this gun then just haven't gotten it back out now that my son and wife hunt with me.  They are doin' the shootin' now.  If I hunt with it again,  I will shoot blackhorn powder.  Been using the blackhorn for deer and really like it better than pyrodex.

I filmed my brother killing a gobbler @ 52 yards with a TK2000 as well.  I gave him the signal that I was on the turkey and he thought I was giving him  the signal to shoot.  When I looked up from the viewfinder and saw where the turkey was I was impressed.

 Thank you for all the reply's. The choke will not unthread HMMMMM. May have to soak it. I will give it a shot when I get everything together to load this baby up. As far as the recoil goes I can usually take a pretty good pounding before I quit. Do you guys clean after each shot?

Shoot you gun clean (that is a clean DRY bore...no oil or lube) and then shoot it dirty. Follow the best pattern and just use that as judge. I clean after the hunt if its wet or I'm not using it for a while. But if I am hunting 2-3 days in a row ....will often go without cleaning. But that is a good thing about clean shot / 777

When sighting mine in, I cleaned after each shot.  I would be hunting with a fresh load and clean barrel so wanted to sight in this way as well.  Like LT, when I am hunting I leave it loaded day to day, but if it gets wet then I shoot and clean it.

70 grains of 777.  2 oz of #6 nickel plated shot in a Thompson Center 2oz multi metal shot cup.  They can be pushed through the choke without removing it with the small end of the ram rod as it describes in the book that comes with the gun.  The Kight cups that hold 2 1/2 oz and come with he gun just aren't neccesary.  Cut over shot wads from old egg crates with skeet or improved cylinder choke tube you don't use.  This load will won't thump you, and will send the wad through the jug choke at a speed that allows the pattern to open slightly before it enters the final area of constriction.  Loading TK2000s too hot will not give the jug choke a chance to perform correctly.  777 powder is easy to clean up.  This is a 30-40 yard load, and a good starting point.

You may be in trouble.. With the corrosion created by black powder substitutes and the problems that it creates with breach plugs, one can only think this would be a problem in a choke tube... Make sure you use a very good high temp anti sieze on those chokes..

I too would recommend Blackhorn 209 and have done a ton of research on it and everything is extremely positive and there is no comparison between it and 777.... Higher velocities and no corrosion.. BH 209 even states you do not need anti sieze on your breech..

I'm with Ralph,...i love mine,...no need to remove the choke to load it,....i like the 70 grains of 777,... 2 ounces of 5's,.....yeah you gotta do some cleaning,...but that's all part of it, no big deal,....i like smokin' 'em with it.
