Question for pot builders

A friend of mine bought a pot call kit on the internet.  It is slate over glass.  He laid the slate in place after sanding the wood and he called me to say that it sounded pretty good to him without the glass and wondered if he should just goop the slate in place without any glass.  I didn't have an answer for him but I told him that I would find out. I would think that the call would sound better with the glass if it was designed that way, but what do you folks suggest?

If you go with no sound board, you may want to try adjusting the depth of the pot and the thickness of the lip,...also the thickness of the bottom is critical in those calls.  I build alot without sound boards and they sound turkey,....just have to change a few things in the building process,...thats all part of the fun of figuring them out.  Don't be afriad to try other adhesives

If you dont mind me asking what adhesive do you perfer.  I used 3M trim adhesive it seemed to be pretty stringy, tried liquid nails clear didnt care for it much either seem to set up to hard. I bought some Lexal but havent used it yet. Its pretty hard to find in my area.

Plumber's Goop works best for me!!
