Watts Opening day Georgia double beard
« on: March 28, 2016, 04:10:47 PM »
Opening day here in Georgia found me and Brian Watts on a piece of his ground with the hopes of three actors that he knew up frequenting the set up area. WQe slipped in early and the gobbeling started great at first on the roost, but their temperament quickly cold down as flydown time came. We sat tight and sat tight for 5 hours with only a occasional gobble to keep us still. Them finally a little after 11 am--he sounded to Watts alum pot call and he was inside of 100 yds. Three gobbles later, he was in the decoys. Watts waited as long as he could for the other actors to arrive in hopes we could try to double on em, but the others stayed behind with some yelping hens --Watts dropped the hammer on a true monarch...a very heavy bird with a great double beard and some very great spurs. His biggest bird ever---congrats Brian and it was a pleasure to see your smile when it all came together buddy ...congrats again on the monarch of that area !!
