Tennessee opening weekend was a great one for the memory books. I had the homework done , started off feeling confidant only to be shamed by a ole gobbler more interested in his 4 hens than me. I took off to another property, where I struck what sounded like two birds -till I moved close and set up...it was 3
. They played with my box, Corder and Jenkins pot till they made their way into range. I dropped one, and the show began. The other two started gobbeling and flogging their ole buddy as he flopped. I didn't think until a few great moments passed to grab my phone and video what was happening. I got my bird flopping and them walking off gobbeling three more time as their ole buddy lay victim to those Nitro's.
Plan for Sunday was to get my buddy Aubie Smith on his first hunt of the season as he returned sat from the beach with his new girlfriend----the beach in turkey season
?---will never happen at my house
. I roosted Aubie a bird sat night....we planned on me videoing the hunt as there was only one there. We crawled into the blind at 6 am and I laid my gun behind us in the blind to keep it outta the way. Aubie has a tendancy to get pretty excited in the moment
. Gobbling time started, and to our surprise --there were 5 or 7 birds hammering right in front of us. It didn't take me long at all to move my gun from the rear of the blind up front as I saw I was in the game now also
. The hammering fools hit the ground, gobbled their fool heads off and two came right to us. We 1,2,3'd en and got it all on video. When I have time I will post some of it here. Nothing like bringing in the start of a season with a good friend, and doubling up on film. It was a great weekend .
