Well last night my buddy and I sat a traditional roost site. No success but we did hear a bird gobble about 300 yards to the west. Well this morning I grabbed the waders in hopes of wading the creek. But as the little frog says to the bull frog, TOO DEEP. But I did find a tree to cross. Crossed the swamp and got to my listening spot. GOBBLLLLLLLLEEEE. Bingo, game on. I started to him and guess what. Hens started going every where. But ole boy kept gobbling. I got to 100 yards and he hits the ground. No where to sit so I sit the bank of the road. Make a call and nothing but silence. But then I hear the magic sound, SPIT vrooom. 50 yards and I can't see him. He moves to my left still I can't see a thing. So I crawl 10 yards to my right. To a pile of dirt and make another call. Then I see that blue white head coming my way . Still no shot till he cross behind a water oak at 20 Yards. When he cleared the tree he dropped strut to look for the hen and met a load of # 5's. Game over, number 2 on the ground!

Are those turkey dogs in the pic?
-
Those are Boykin Spaniels. I use them for duck hunting. The one lying in the back ground under my arm loves to bust some turkeys when she gets a chance. If we had a fall season in Bama, she'd be a turkey dog!
