Title: Ohio Bow season 2010
Post by: Shadetree Callers on November 24, 2010, 12:07:56 PM: Last friday found me sitting in a tree stand again in southern Ohio. It was the third day straight waiting in a tree and I decided to try a new area. I gained access to this property at 12 pm after hunting all morning nearby. I went to town for lunch at Magees Diner and headed to the new farm. This was going to be the last day I could bowhunt before the gun season opened the following morning for youth. I climbed into a tree in a good looking spot and set up my climber. At dark thirty I started seeing bucks come out . I saw 6 bucks that evening and had shot opportunities at 4 of them. I shot this 8 pt at about 5 pm. I knew I had a good hit but lost his bloodtrail in a creek that he splashed across. I opted to continue looking the next day. The next morning I crossed the creek and the buck laid 20 yards out in a field on the other side. We were able to drive right to this deer and haul him out , I hate dragging deer ! The deer weighed in at 225 field dressed . We grow some big ones here in corn country. Here's a few pics of the deer and the field I was hunting as well as some locals ! This years bowseason has been good to me, I love my Fred Bear bow ! Gun season starts Monday and we are headed to another great spot in Jackson Ohio . Good Luck to everyone and be careful out there !
