I share a pretty cool permission slip for a local golf course w/ another fella. I took my buddy there a couple of days ago and he got lucky. I had a doe come in close but wasnt sure if it was 30 or 40 yards! Big problem I'm dealing with! My buddy squeazed one off at a doe at 80yds with his crossbow, and made the shot!!! I tought he was pullin' my leg, but when I went over to see the damage, it was definitly a sure thing. She ran about another 80 yards and there she lay! The bolt went in and out of her neck and kept going for another clean pass-through of her left leg. I was pretty impressed. I've never seen anything like that with an arrow/bolt. It literaly looked like he tried to cut her head off with an axe! We stepped it off, and it was right at 80 yards. Have any of yall had any experience with crossbow hunting? I dont know squat about them, but I've heard that long shots are achievable like this one....
Sorry I dont have pics. It was late after all this, and it slipped my mind...... *wha*

Nope, haven't seen it personally. But I would not doubt it. I have heard stories of shots like that. Luck played a huge part!

My buddy shoots a top of the line excaliber. He consistently shoots deer at 50 yards. I think 80 might be pushing it a little, but if your buddy practices at that range, the more power to him. I think it still has the energy to make a good kill. Roc *up* *up*
