acorns , acorns ,and more acorns . Thick on the ground as hair on a 'yotes back . And turkeys too.

Same here too.  Get inside the timber and sounds like it's hailing from a storm.  One bit of warning, don't setup by a walnut tree.  They hurt getting hit by  *peep*

My areas I deer hunt in, when there are acorns... it's a very good year!

With all the talk of falling acorns and having my grandson all weekend, I thought I would post a picture of the acorn shooter that works great on live oak acorns and small water oak acorns.  My dad made me one like this one.  He carved it out of the end of an apple crate.  The cherry that I am using for box call lids works great.  Here is my grandsons acorn shooter he took home with him this weekend.

Our acorns crop don't look to spiffy down here....not enough rain.... :-\

What youth with a slingshot has not gotten into trouble with one,  especially a little bigger one that would shoot lit cherry bombs.

Use to take model air plane glue...roll a cherry bomb in it and then roll the cherry bomb in BBs......dang if that can't get you in big trouble...shot out of a wrist rocket............... *peep* *peep* *peep* *peep* *poo* *poo*

Lots of mast this way too.Newspaper says best mast year statewide since the 40's.Great for the game, but can make hunting harder in my opinion.Good luck to all this fall.

Your giving me ideas Bill that would be a good way to break the flock especially if you could shoot 2 at a time????

I know for fact that It will scatter the heck out of coots.  Don't know why it would not work on a flock of turkey's.
