Title: Missouri opening morning double!!!
Post by: stevelumma on September 15, 2010, 08:44:07 PM
Beautiful morning to be in the woods!!! Had a gobbler come by at 8:00 , and tried to draw on him but.......yep you got it,BUSTED. About 2-3 minutes later the first doe came by from the opposite direction and walked under and behind my tree. She figured something was up and I stuck her on her way out @20 yards , she ducked into a spine shot and a quick follow up shot made it fast. An hour later two does came by @20 yards and a text book shot grounded the lead doe within 50 yards.Hope everyone has a great season!!!!!

Way to put them down...  You are not supposed to show that MO has deer or turkeys though :)

That will be good for the freezer!!!

You have escape chickens and we have darn emu's down here in Southwest MO where there are no turkeys left...  we have no deer either...  must have migrated North  *lol*

You had more energy than me.  It was darn near 90 here today.  Started out in the 70s.  Glad you had a lot of success!

I was noticing how open the woods are where you hunt.  There seems to be an absence of green browse-- wondering if cattle are running in these woods, or do you all have an over-population of deer.

Yelperman, This place is a 150 acre private tract that is on the border of a 2000 acre gated lake community that doesn't allow hunting. There are no cattle in the area, and this place hasn't been hunted as far as I or the property owner know in 10+ years. there is an abundance of wildlife on the property. The tract is loaded with big old growth hardwoods, with a dense canopy. It sounds like a hail storm when I'm on the stand from all of the nuts falling off the trees.

Hi buddy!!   This is why I've been trying to get you to get a bow!!!   Early bow season, the deer come out in these open areas more because there not as spooked.....Plus the white oak acorns falling is like a dinner bell!   Come and get it!!!    *bannana*  ..........Glad you decided to start posting!
