The next morning, April 21st, Zach and I and my 2 sons went to a different area to try some other gobblers. Once again I sent Zach off in the dark to an area where I had killed turkeys in the past. My boys and I were about 1/2 mile away from Zach when we heard him shoot. We were working 3 birds ourselves but after an hour we were busted or something, I'm really not sure what happened. So we went to pick up Zach around 8:30 and this is what he had killed:
Zach Farmer 2nd Georgia Gobbler - Double Bearded
The bird had a double beard (10" and 6"), 1 1/8 spurs, and weighed 17.5 pounds.

We met my father-in-law at his tractor shed around 10:00 a.m. and while we were standing around talking and eating crackers, a gobbler sounded off a good ways away. In the meantime my father-in-law asked Zach if he wanted to see one of his deer stands that was about 75 yards away in a hardwood bottom. So Zach and my boys went with him.
A few minutes later I heard Zach do a call series (I later found out that he was demonstrating his caller for my father-in-law). Immediately a gobbler sounded off no more than 250 yards away. My sons ran back to the shed where I was and got their guns and went back in the bottom with Zach. At 10:30 a.m. I heard 2 shots. Zach had called in 4 longbearded gobblers and my oldest son killed one, while my younger son missed his in the excitement. JD's gobbler weighed 17 pounds, 10" beard, and had just under 1" spurs.

That was a great day! I was able to hear everything while Zach worked those 4 gobblers in for my sons. They will never forget that experience! 8)
