Title: ... last MS gobbler of this season for me ...
Post by: J R Hunt Camp on May 04, 2010, 10:50:41 AM:    ... it was a beautiful, quiet, & calm MS mornin' on the backside of the place last week - just a great mornin' to be in the turkey woods ... 8)

   I had been doin' some soft callin' every now & then with a trumpet & a slate pot ...
   ... 'bout 7:35 the silence was broken by this guys gobble to a few soft trumpet yelps - it came from about 250 to 300 yards from the south of me ...

   He gobbled 4 or 5 times to the slate pot's soft talk while comin' the whole time - each soundin' off from him was closer & closer ...
   ... within' 10 minutes of the 1st gobble he was standin' & struttin' less than 20 yards in front of me, in the red clover - what a fine sight it was ... ;D

   A quick cluck from the fine soundin' Magnolia mouth call brought his head right on up out of the tuck, & that was the last turkey talk this fine bird ever heard ... ;)

Fine bird and great set of calls. I can testify that Jim can flat run these calls. Lots of turkey birds are in trouble.

Very nice bird to close the season....

You were hunting w/ some very fine folks.....Matt, Ernie and Gary are tough in the turkey woods.....That Sassy Ole' hen of Ernie's is one of my all-time favorites RkLu
