I had seen a group of birds feedin' through a road strip field about 500 or 600 yds down of my roads, while walkin' in the other mornin' ...
... so I went to one of my other favorite spots off the road, & did a little sittin' & soft callin' for about 45 minutes ...
... I wanted to let the group I'd seen move on to wherever they were headin' to, before I headin' on down the road ...

... after gettin' no response from where I was sittin', I decided it was time to head on towards the back - so after checkin' to see the coast was clear, down the road I went ...
I got about 200 yards from the road strips where I'd seen the group earlier, & stopped to run a couple of softer yelps & clucks from a short box caller ...
... those were greeted with some pretty quick turkey talk from on down the way ...
I was kinda' surprised at this response, as I'd figured the group had headed on down the road to my back power line area ...
... I decided to try to slip in a little closer, & get set-up on the side of the road at about 100 or 120 yards from where the strips started ...

After gettin' settled in I ran a few very soft yelps on a certain aluminum pot caller, & followed that with some quick clucks on an orange mouth call ...
... well I guess that was all this dude needed to hear, cause he piled right out onto the road from the right side field - lookin' real hard in my direction ...
... a couple of sharp clucks on the pot, & soft cluck / cackle on the mouth call got him headin' in my direction - at a fairly rapid pace ...
At about 30 yards; or so; I hit him with a quick double cluck on the mouth call, & he hit the brakes & blew right on up into a full strut - still headed towards me, but at a much more manageable pace ...

... when he got to about 20 yards I figured that was close enough ...
... so another cluck from the mouth call raised his head right on up out of the tuck, & I let the business end of the SBE II "speak it's peace" ... ;)
He did a half a back somersault right were he was standin' & there was no floppin' about it ... 8)
