Marylands 3 day Winter season started today and I was greeted with about an inch of snow on the lower eastern shore this morning. The birds were right where I thought and I busted some off the roost at dawns light. As soon as I set up I get a response from a roosted bird from some soft clucks on my yelper. After some heavy wind blowing the bird went quiet. Once I started working my box I immediately got a response with a bird yelping the entire way in right to the barrel. My first snow hunt for turkeys! Turned out he was a young Jake!(http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag55/wyattsarahjesse/2016-01/2A07BDFB-52F4-45C8-B7CF-CA66B610E0AB_zpso45icv2r.jpg) (http://s1298.photobucket.com/user/wyattsarahjesse/media/2016-01/2A07BDFB-52F4-45C8-B7CF-CA66B610E0AB_zpso45icv2r.jpg.html)

very cool man congrats!! What box and yelper were you using?
-
I was using a Frank Cox Cocobolo yelper and a Marlin Watkins Bloodwood over Butternut box. They ate that box up. After I killed this bird and was packing up a bird pitched down flying to the woods behind me. I called that one in to about 20 yards with that box call. Both birds were very vocal when responding to the box call. Mr Watkins made it for me over the summer so it hasn't seen the Spring woods yet but it sure will this Spring.
