Have had 4 really tough days with lots of stories for bumped birds by others, farm equipment and very cold weather, not to mention my mountain birds have not busted up yet. We need the right weather to get them set off !!!
Went to Alabama to a buddies place this morn. Gobbeling was not good early, but got a response from a butternut longbox and it was on. I really dont know, but there were at least 6 or 7 thay came in with this bird. When the shot rang out, a couple flew, but 2 or 3 actually stood there and gobbled at the shot. It was cool to see. This one took a ride home with me. He made 11.25" and had 1 1/4 " spurs on him.

Hey, leave my poor Alabama birds alone! I haven't even been able to hit the woods yet in April! ;D
But seriously, I just went to the TCC page to find me a butternut call, *lol*. Still trying to decide which one . . .
On a completely unrelated note, I've tried to get up and go the last two mornings to a place nearby that rarely gets hunted (other than by poachers). I keep telling myself that if my uncle can still get up and drive an hour to the swamp and still make it back for a 9:00 meeting, I can make it to this place 30-minutes away and to work by 9:00. However, I have yet to prove that assertion. I've never killed anything there, but the first time I went out there was towards the end of last season, and I did hear some gobblers + a hen tried to jump in the blind with me. It needs a lot of work (thick thick thick), but maybe I'll be the first of the family to kill one out on that plot, if I can ever muster up the energy for a weekday hunt.
