Title: a Watkins trumpet
Post by: jmck on October 26, 2012, 09:56:12 AM
Its hard....no its IMPOSSIBLE ...to go to Marlins without coming home with a new call, or two ,or three  *lol* !
This last hunting jaunt found a new trumpet Marlin made and had ready for me to hunt with there. Marlin, Ronnie, and David had to ENDURE my playing the call like a new kid on christmas morn all the way to breakfast and back every morning in the truck---l and let me say ,that truck is a competator, not a TOYOTA  *wha*.
The trumpet draws very easy and tones down down right flawless. The sound in her...well , its a pure hunter let me say. Thanks Marlin fOr the great trumpeT. iTS GOING TO SEE PLENTY OF WOODS TIME.

I got mine *cheers* a few months ago and it is goin in da woods with me dis next week. Super EZ to play and da sound, well lets just say, I own near 300 yelpers and I dont wear but 2 yelpers at a time and it made my neck. Just fantastic and den some. Great caller der Jeff and njoy. Ordered me a box caller from Marlin, but ran short of money when I had da pnuemonia and bronchitis fer 6 weeks. Oh well, back on da list when da green grows again. Back in da turkey fall woods next week finally.

Fact is I wear Marlins yelper to church every Sunday. I gave some of the young kids at church yelpers and they also wear them every Sunday. I cant wait til a Sunday that the rejoicing with all the trumpets join in.

It is a nice one and just like mine - African blackwood and Amboyna burl for sure.  They sound sweet and are easy to play.  The first time I had it in the woods this summer I called a hen right up to the door of my TOYOTA  *wha*
while I was still seated in the truck!  Turkeys must prefer TOYOTA'S!  Mine always starts and never gets stuck unlike some other trucks I will not name that I have helped pull out of the mud.  *cheers*
