Interesting weekend
« on: November 14, 2011, 07:03:36 PM »
This has been one of the weirdest weekends. I was off Friday for Veterans day and me an Tyler split up and hit two different area across from each other. He struck first with a pair of Jake's. I was covered up in deer and just couldn't get away from them or find any birds but I heard one fly down and headed that way. Wouldn't you know it walked right up on a eight point buck chasing a doe. How can i tell it was an eight point because it ran right to me and stop within 5 yards. Another buck was up on the ridge and couldn't tell much about it. Just seen horns. Get around to this corner and a couple of small does run right thru the middle of the flock I'm hunting for. Birds go everywhere. Must have been 50 between the two groups does busted one I busted the other. Got a good break. After about  30 minutes the fun began. I had two groups keeing and calling got between the two and dropped the hammer on a couple.

While at the check station. This soldier brings in two buck tied together with a parachute. He through they were fighting and he shoot one to have the other go crazy trying to get away. the Game Warden came out an shot the other one. They were going to try and cut them apart but the buck wasn't having any of it.

Today I'm in a cracker jack area and don't hear a bird the wind is blowing 25+ mph. I end up driving over to a cut corn field planted in wheat. There is 3 birds crossing the lower end. I drive past them and park off of a point and cross the field and get setup and 3 turned in 12 Jake's. I dropped the hammer on a double in one shot. Man one had a beard so small it was only 1/4 inch long what a weekend. Then my buddy, that, went to Mo killed a really nice buck. So we all have had one heck of a good Veterans Day.

OH I almost forgot the Old Midget Buck.
Mo I found a deer even you could keep up with.  *bannana*  This is a cell phone pic but this buck is not standing in a hole. It's crippled it was walking around on it back knees. Kind of hopped like a rabbit.  Not from being shot either I think it has always been this way. I got within shotgun length of this deer and called the Warden an asked what he wanted me to do with it. I gave him the location of the deer and he said he would come out and check it out. It too had a parachute in its antlers an you could see where it had been fighting. At first I thought that it might have gotten the cord on the chute tired around it's back legs but that wasn't the case. So I'm naming it the Old Midget Buck.
