I't's been a good season

Yesterday was the last day of our turkey season, Cutter and I didn't find anybody to hunt with that had a tag so we went just for the fun of it. It was a nice day to be in the woods  We took a long walk before we split up a small band of gobblers. We set up and called ,with not much luck I think they flew to the next county.  Cutter and i had a good season, all together we brought seven birds to the gun.  And should have had more, hunted with some youth hunters that couldn't sit still, and had one guy miss two birds, but thats hunting. Monday is our first day our deer season, It's supposed to rain Monday and tuesday . It will be a long time till spring hunting and even longer till I can hunt with cutter again.

This fall weather has been awesome and if I didn't have my little mishap with the router I would have gotten out more than 3 times. I was just think yesterday that I would give anything to turkey hunt right now over deer but oh well there's aways next year. Congrats on a great year and with luck I'll be hunting birds next fall with a friend and his turkey dog.

Congratulations on a great season. I took a young man the other day and on the way out of the woods with his turkey he looks at me and says I like the fall way better than spring. Of course I smiled and ask why. He told me you hear so much more turkey talk in the fall. That put a real smile on my face. People who have not experienced it just will not understand.

I've hunted fall turkeys all my life , but hunting with a dog has brought a whole new aspect to it. I'm just amazed how fast and how much ground Cutter can cover. I got a turkey the first Monday of the season , Then hunted with friends and family. Hunting with out a gun was as much fun as hunting with one. Calling and just watching cutter work in the woods was alot of fun. I'll have to tell you Sooner hunting with Cutter and your long box is just about unfair for the turkeys. Every hunt it seemed like cutter picked up something new.   I had talked to you about a blind and you said it would be better if cutter got to see the whole hunt. Now if i even stop to call Cutter comes right to my side and sits. And he knows when the gun goes off it's his turn to catch one . I'm really glad i got him ,it made me hunt more and longerand i just like watching him work in the woods.
