We don't have many opportunities to hunt pheasants here in the Northeast, so I have never given it much thought. At one time I raised black pheasants which were more suited to survive in colder climates than the ringnecks. I released some on our property and my father harvested one about ten years later, not sure if it was one I released since I didn't band them, it would be remarkable if it was though.
