Fly fishing on the South Holston river in Tennessee
« on: December 12, 2010, 04:16:08 PM »
Had a GREAT trip when I was in Boone, NC working at the Operation Christmas Child processing center.  Over 200,000 shoeboxes of Christmas gifts were processed that week.  Those boxes were headed for children in Uganda, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and another country in Africa.

While we were there, I made float trip down the South Holston in Tennessee.  I booked the all day trip with Foscoe Fishing in Foscoe near Boone, NC.  Had a wonderful guide who even fixed a hot lunch on the boat.  Here's a few pics of the trip.  If you're ever near Boone, these guys at Foscoe are great to fish with and they have a really nice shop too.

It was in the mid thirties all day and a little breezy.  I looked like the Michelin Man all bundled up, but I stayed warm.

Congrats Danny, sounds like an awesome time, and what a great thing to do for 200,000 kids so they might have something for Christmas! I had breakfast once in Boone, a little outdoor lounge, great food. I remember it  was a beautiful morning, the kind that makes you feel everything is right in the world with a sense of wonder and joy. I will go back there some day I hope, but of course it might not be like the memory...maybe it will be even better with a fly rod in hand....... ;)
