Them bows look to have been around a while . Everyone that I know of TODAY puts some radius in their shelf . Them old bows didn't have it ,,,just flat ,,,,,least that's my experience .
I did a few of the way tour fixin to , many years ago ,,,,,,pure fun .
I have quit shootin' and huntin' with bows ,,,,,but still have a great admiration for REAL ,instinctive shootin',,and a fine recurve.

Do 'em up right and make us proud.

Chris nice old bows!! Over the years I have refinished a number of bows mostly putting on snake skin backing and reselling them. The second bow looks to be a mid 60's Herters bows. What color is the front and back fiberglass?

yes flat...............and old...............i used to hunt with an old 55#magnum bear bow(green wood bow) but got into the compound craze and now i'm fall'in back into the traditional bow hunt'in..........bare bow-instinctive shooting..............some may not agree but there's a feel'in you get with a recurve/long bow(harvest kill) that you don't get with a compound..............some know what i'm talk'in about...........................

Chris it could be an old Herters bow. Herters stoped making bows in 1973. At the very end they were using green backing with black on the front but I have seen and have one in my collection that has green backing and what most people call the Herters mustard yellow. I believe in the very end they used up what ever they had on hand!! Your bow has the same lines as the Herters Perfection. Does the bow have black overlays on the tips?

It looks like the glass is brown. Is the glass backing brown and looks woven?

Chris my guess would be mid 50's Ben Pearson, but there was a ton of makers back then. Like it is today with turkey call makers. Not saying that in a negative way but archery took of over night and every body started making bows. Just like turkey hunting has exploded in the last ten years. Most old Person bow were marked with a series of three numbers. The bow didn't have to be marked with a Pearson name with just those three #'s you could tell what make model and year the bow was.
