Passed on a couple of nice bucks.....and a Fox!

 Took my muzzleloader for a walk this afternoon...along with my camera. Saw 32 deer and a couple were nice bucks. I passed on these two...a 2 year old nine point and a nice 3 year old 8 point. I may have to rethink my decision on the 8 point. He has nice mass and height . Saw two foxes but was only able to catch one on the camera.

Nice looking bucks! I agree that nine point will be a dandy in a year or two. I might have to reconsider on that eight. Good mature deer. Good luck!!!

Great looking bucks...It would have been hard for me to pass that last one...He looks mature, Im thinking he may be 4 ....Keep us posted if you decide to go after him!

I've seen him every day since muzzleloader season opened this past Saturday. My mind is working over time. Just never know when you might see a bigger one around here....

WOW!...there's not very many down here in Alabama that get much bigger than that...LOL. I have let several 3yr old walk this year since Oct. 15...I like to thin the herd by removing the older does, which is harder to do than you think. I wish more people in Bama would let the bucks get older.
Thats A nice deer regardless!...you have got some good genes in the herd!

One of my neighbors and myself, have been doing QDM for the past eight years. Problem is the other neighbors don't think like we do. They shoot any buck they see. We don't drive deer and that helps because we have over thousand acres between us. We do shoot does, though! Once you start seeing that QDM really works, it's hard to even shoot bucks, like that one 8 point. I have a gene that runs here that we have been taking out whenever we see them...on sided racks with just a spike on one side. Over the past 4 years we have taken 6 bucks with that gene. Seeing fewer of these but I do have one this year that is a nice 4 point on one side and the spike on the other. When I first saw him this year, I thought he was broken off on the one side but I got a good look at him the other day.....he needs to go. I am hosting several Wounded Warrior hunts in a few weeks and he will be on the HIT LIST!

I agree...QDM does work, but I get frustrated sometimes with the adjoining clubs...That's why me and my little 300 acre 5 member club stay to ourselves most of the time.
I have the same gene here in Bama, Here's one I shot last year, 180# with just the one long spike on one side!
