Been meaning to throw up a few pics from a few great fall season hunts from this season. It all began, with ole Watts himself in a famed stretch of woods we had been watching--the day was his for the opening shot. We slipped in tight to the roost and sat down...waited for those familiar early morning tree calls, and moved in to shake em up and scatter them. It worked and we were set up and boy did the action start. It was really great all the talk we experienced , right up to the poinT something really UNFORTIUNATE happened...Ole Watts had one right in front of him when a TREE suddenly jumped between him and his target

...W H I F ....did ole dead eye Watts really miss......

....well, we sat tight and called in 5 gobbling jakes 3 times to Brian but he wouldn't shoot a future longbeard.....we finally called in a group of 4 hens that came in on my side, and Watts was still mad and told me to take the shot---he didn't have to say that twice......

So, after Brians run of bad luck, it was time to get him back in the saddle to revive his pride...we headed for the mountain and got a small flock busted up. These birds went every direction they could have...it was on

---Ole Watts proved his mustard this time. He downed one, and we sat tight and they started up again--it was my turn then ....we had a great day

Next I slipped off to a friends farm that I have never fall hunted-----this was a fast hunt from break to trigger falling ..a Buice and Lumma trumpet with my Butternut/bloodwood longbox and Watkin's Persimmon/snakewood fiddle call did the trick

Then I tried another run on one of my mountain properties...where the second flock I played with that day found some willing to participate....the ole Watkins persimmon/snakewood fiddle call,my butternut/bloodwood longbox and Lumma's trumpet were the demise of that bird.

Then it was off to hunt with Marlin, a man I owe so much to -this is always a favorite hunt with the guys and the dogs....
