Here is a Turpin Shortbox that I am mailing out this AM. It is going to Mark Rich, the grandson of a man that taught me to turkey hunt back in the late 70's. He was an original member of Ashbrook Island after WWII, and when it sold, he joined neighboring Woodstock Island. Both of these clubs are in the Mississippi River floodplain here at Greenville. I relived a lot of great hunts with Mr. Jack as I made this call. When he had a stroke in the late 80's he let me use his original Turpin short box. I used that box for 13 years before I found out how much it was worth and gave it to his grandson as he wished. This and all of my Turpin Shortboxes are patterned after that call. The orginal was Hard Northern Maple over Teak. I traded my friend Steve Turpin for a couple of Teak blanks a while back and this call is one. The Yellowheart I got from Limbhanger (Jeffery Estridge) on here. It is as close to the Janka Hardness of the Northern Maple that I had in stock. I set this call up just like Mr. Jack's Original. This is one fine sounding call on both sides. Mark is a very good turkey hunter in his own right, and I hope this call will give him as much pleasure as the original did me.
Mr. E
