Fall turkey hunt
« on: October 11, 2013, 06:46:03 AM »
Well I'm back from my trip and what a trip we had.  We went to Kansas and then off to MO.  Nothing like camping out and staying with a good buddy of yours.  We had a heck of a time, ate a lot of good, and had a very successful hunt.  It took us some time to get on some birds, but we stuck with it and accomplished it!

Here is our double in Kansas.  One hen and one lil jake!  Tim Clayton's long box called these in.  I had a shot at one more, but I thought she was too far.  I'm terrible with distances :(  Anyways she ended up being only 30 yards away  *aah*

After harvesting these two birds in the late afternoon, we packed up and headed toward MO.  We hunted hard in some rugged land, but never came across any birds.  That was the end of my vacation  *cry*

I had one day left, so I made the best of it.  I hunted hard all day and about 5:00 I was fortunate enough to call in a flock of 10.   I was just using some soft clucks and yelps on my call from Ferguson.  Before I knew it, these 10 were on me!

All in all it was a great time out in the woods, lots of fresh turkey and I have one tag left for MO and KS.  Hoping to get on a bird in MO this weekend and take next weekend off and go chase some KS birds again!

Oh my...  I was in meetings all day and I'm not sure how I "tagged" my fellow coworker.. yeah she's cute..  and she loves guns too.  Not really sure why she doesn't hunt though, but probably best for me :)

Unfortunately I have to do some side job today, but tomorrow I'll be chasing them again!
