A treat fom Ohio
« on: May 31, 2013, 08:44:00 AM »
This is the 2nd treat from the magic mailbox this week.  Last year, I hunted with the Ole Shadtree on his favorite turkey ground and managed to lowered the boom on a nice 3 yr old gobbler.  When cleaning the bird Bob said why don't you save the wing bones and I'll make a call for you.  Sounds like a deal to me.  Well, now with his turkey season winding down, Bob found some time to get back to call making and this showed up.  I am not very experienced in running wingbones and or trumpets, but the ease of play in this call has definitely made me a believer in the quality of sound they can produce.  I can't put this darn thing down and just to prove it worth I took it out yesterday am to gage it's merit on the real deal.  I knew of 2 gobblers on some neighbors land and sat tight to the property line at 5 am.  They woke moments later and I hit them with some clucks on this bone and they cut me off.  I waited till flydown and then ran some clucks and yelps and they came a running!  I think I got the hang of it *bannana* *bannana* Thanks Bob, it'll be aound my neck next season and probably this fall.
