Routers/Router tables

Hey guys, I am just getting started in  the callmaking.  I am fixing to start working on box calls.  What routers/ router tables do you guys recommend?  Or do I need a table, or just the router?  As far as tables I have been looking at the Bosch RA1181 and been looking at the Bosch 1617 EVSPK 2.25 HP fixed and plunge base router.  Any input is greatly appreciated.

what would you use a router table for in box call making? I am asking cause i dont now. I aint a journyman call maker, (beginner also) made a few calls, but i have a good tablesaw, drill press, bandsaw and table top belt/disc sander that i use to make callers.

 Table router is good to do inlay work or route sound grooves in the sides .

Hey Bob, I was also thinking the router would be the best way to do the base for short boxes.

   Some guys use a table saw for that work bur even with a quality blade it doesn't cut a perfect groove like a router table can . And you are limited to the one size of cut . With a router you have an array of uses .
 And yes it is great for doing the bases on a cost style call . It requires a model with a 1/2" arbor to do that work .

i guess that makes sense, i guess if you already have all the basic equip, (table saw, drill press..etc.) i didnt think of the routed sides like the big mass produced calls (lynch, primos) and have seen many customs that have the grooved sides. that being said, i have seen really good table tops that you can customize by building your on stand and buying the components at places like Peachtree. i use a moulding cutter on my table saw, but havent made any callers that are grooved, but thinking about it might be a good idea if using some fancy wood that a person wouldnt want to checker...... oh, i use a dado head for grooving the bottom/base for a short box.....

Is there any certain brand or model that you would suggest, or not suggest?

I use a Ryobi and have had no problems with mine at all . Look on Craigs list .
