Nitro Mega-Weight
« on: February 04, 2012, 01:22:00 AM »
Getting ready to head to their shop and pick up 10 of these in 20 gauge.  Anyone shot these loads yet?

If I can get away from work on Monday (more like play sick for not getting to go to Nashville) I should have them!!

4x5x6x7 quad load.  I talked to them in detail before I ordered them.  Be really interested how they do.

Mike,

I have read that these Mega Weight shot are more uniform in size and the shells do not have any of the Pixi Dust Nitros have had in the past. Hard to imagine Nitros improving much on their performance. I need to call Ray and get an order placed for some 12 and 10 gauge shells.

Bill --

Here' a link to the Nitro site, states its 13.5% denser than lead and increased down range energy than any of their other loads:

Bill mine are 1 7/16 (20 gauge) and they were right at 60.  I stopped by and got to talk to Nitro Ray himself.  I'm looking forward to firing these and he will be offering these in straight 7's when he is able to get a good supply of 7's.

I'm not sure how they will do in comparison of the handloaded TSS's, but he said they have been wonderful in his testing.  Said they really shine in the good ole 20 too!

Man he was a pleasure to speak with.  Especially when he found I was a local.  I felt bad talking to him that long, but it's always nice to see someone else ate up with turkeys.  I'm anxious to see how these do.  I wish it wasn't going to be so darn cold this weekend and I'd fire a couple and see what they do!

This looks like something different on the end this time.  We will see if it is...

I hope to shoot this weekend.  Two different weather reports, so we'll either have snow or be close to 60!!

I shot the 3.5 inch magweights this spring and was impressed.  Ranges from 7 steps to further than I will admit resulted in clean kills 9/10 times. The last one was my fault :(.  Very good shells that I will shoot next year.

I didn't spend much time counting and patterning...in fact, after I shot this, I made a slight adjustment to the sight to center the pattern and declared the rig finished.

Their website lists a 20 ga magweight load.  I don't know what the availability is.
