Texas A&M to the SEC?

i will believe it when i see it.  this was talked about last year as well and nothing happened.  if it were to happen, i wouldn't be surprised to see texas become an independent, like candy-a.z.z. notre dame is.  schools that don't play in a conference are a joke and shouldn't be eligible to compete in bcs bowl games.

I agree with that one Ron.  Especially since Noder Lame can STEAL a BCS Bowl bid from the Big East.

Tex A&M is dying to go to the SEC and who can blame them?  They couldn't come alone, so there would have to be another team to join and balance the conference.  I'd love to see another quality team or two in the SEC such as a Virginia Tech, FSU, Clemson, or Ga Tech...

If the SEC doesnt want more total schools I'd by happy to see Vandy and Kentucky get the boot to allow better programs in.

Sitting here watching it on tv as I speak, they are saying there are serious talk about Florida State coming as well. Which I hope not, I can't stand Florida State. Chad, as far as the SEC letting Kentucky go, that won't happen, simply for the pure fact that the SEC won't want to let the money that the UK basketball team brings them go to another conference. I would say if they were to let any schools go it would be Vandy, and eitherOle Miss or Mississippi State. Because truthfully they are no better competition the Kentucky. Plus that would give one team from each division leaving. JMHO.

sorry, but uk basketball, nor any other sec bball team for that matter, is bringing in a bunch of money.  the sec athletic department's live off the revenue generated by the football teams.  basketball just isn't that important in the sec as a whole.

I agree with the fact football brings in more money than basketball. I live in Kentucky, just 20 minutes from UK, every other basketball teams in the SEC don't bring in a bunch of money. There are 3 exceptions to this, Duke, NC, and UK. These basketball programs bring in money. If you have never experienced the rabid-ness of UK basketball fans first hand you wouldn't understand how much money they spend. I'm not saying this as a UK fan, because I am not. I am a Florida fan. But I am telling you, the SEC will do everything in their power to keep UK in the conference because of the basketball.

I agree that uk fans are rabid when it comes to basketball, but the money they generate is not that significant, in the overall scheme of things.  

so, the most valuable basketball program in the country, pulls in $22 million less that the 20th most valuable football program-

GA Tech has consistently played well in many sports over the past few decades.  Their fans are passionate and geographically they are in the heart of SEC country.  Whats more, Tech's strong academic requirements would bring a bit of credibility to a conference that doesnt fare well scholastically with the ACC and to a lesser degree the Big East.  Let us not forget the real reason the athletes are on those campuses is to learn something..

The Chokies aren't going anywhere. They can't go without Virginia. Some kind of legislature thing from what I have heard.

Odds on favorite of the rumor mill is Clemson ? Then Florida State but I hear that Florida isn't interested in having instate competition.

Chad, I would agree with Georgia Tech, or even Clemson. Anybody but Florida State. But that is just a selfish thing on my behalf, I hate Florida State. They are saying the state of Texas might step
In and stop it. If that is so, that will put a stop to it all probably.

Not sure where you heard that GT's fans are passionate. They don't even sell out their little stadium in the heart of Atlanta.  GT brings the SEC nothing, in terms of getting into a new market, or generating much revenue.
