I listened to everybody talking about two, three hundred in ten at forty. I fall in, I buy a new 24" barrel for my 870 Express Super Mag. I buy a 665 Jellyhead and 3 different boxes of Hevi 13's. Ok, so I don't "polish" my new barrel BUT I do deep clean it FOUR TIMES. That should be good enough, maybe. Well, it didn't rain today, it was 55 so if I am going to pattern my gun I have to do it today. The first place I went was a mud hole as was the second so, I go to my hunting spot to see if I can still hunt this year. While there I decide to shoot. I also brought along the old boxes of lead 3.5" turkey loads to sight in and see what they do. Hevi's CAN'T be that much better than Remington, Winchester, or Federal 3.5" turkey loads. First two rounds were 2 3/4" field loads to dry the barrel. Bore snaked the barrel twice. First turkey load was the 3" #5's that I used last year. Not enough hits to count. Maybe 75. Next was Winchester Supreme 3.5" #5's, 97 in ten. Next was Remington Nitro 3.5" #6's. 110 in 10". Then Federal 3.5" #5's and only got 110 in 10 and I'm ready to break my gun. THEN, I pop open a little box of Hevi 13 Mag Blend 5,6,7's. These Hevi's CAN'T be that much better can they? You guys have been pulling my chain right? I squeezed the trigger. OUCH. These kick a little more. 265 in 10". What kick?
Next, Hevi #6's, only 198 and 261 for the #7's. You all are right and I'll be with the Mag Blends this year.
