Come on Spring
« on: January 08, 2017, 09:17:52 AM »
The local gobblers have made the woods behind my house their winter home.
This morning 22 were in my backyard at one time.  It's hard to get all of them in one picture but there are a bunch of them.  Many had some impressive hooks.  A few 2 year olds and one poor jake that is continually getting chased.  He's gonna be a tough one if he survives.  Might just start calling him a "Jake named Sue"  ROTFLMBO ROTFLMBO

I know they will be scattered all over the county come March but I sure do enjoy watching them now.
Funny, last spring I didn't hear a gobble here.  Only saw 3 hens and only one of them had poults.  Hope one or two of these boys sticks around.

That is a pretty site indeed!!  Once saw a group of close to 75 long beards stay together until the first of March on an Island here on the Mississippi.  You would not believe the gobbling coming forth just before the bust up.

Yep if you name it you can't kill it. Since I moved I haven't seen a turkey or deer. Man I hate Florida  can't wait to move back to Tennessee.

Nice! Pulled up to my turkey pen yesterday and 8 jakes and 10 really long beards were harassing my birds. In total 88 gobblers going nuts! It was Kaos! Flogging thru the fence. Hens yelping louder than I thought they could. I mean like hurting my ears loud. It was pretty cool to see and hear. Spring is getting closer.
