I have been spinning more trumpets to hopefully make enough to get to the Unicoi show and to have some for the table. Here are some of the last ones I did this week. I am turning some nice but plain blanks with less embellishments to sell at a lower price I call these the "Hunter's Series" just a good call to stuff in your vest and good for the new people that don't want to spend a ton.
The first pic is black ash burl, pepperwood and maple burl. Two with African blackwood mouthpieces and one cumary. The maple burl has a two part epoxy coating that has to be spun for 10 hours while it dries then 2-3 days to cure. Just did it to see if it would work. Looks like glass and it is hard as a rock.
Second pic is apple, cherry burl both with ABW mouthpieces. The apple is one of the Hunter's calls, nice wood and sounds good but not fancy by any means.
