Ivory prices

This will more than likely cause the price of Ivory to increase. In my opinion you shouldn't kill an aminal just to get it's tusk or Ivory. What I don't understand is these governments could drop the bottom out of the ivory prices if they would turn loose of the stockpiles of ivory they hold. If ivory wasn't worth anything then poachers wouldn't be as likely to kill the Elephants. These test could cause some one to lose there Ivory. Think I may try and get some before any spike in the price. We all know that they don't have to run these test before someone comes up with the ideal that hey we can charge more. Remember 22 bullets

Interesting read..  I agree that lifting the and regulating the sale would be more profitable for countries like Africa but they seem to be unable to grasp the idea.  I remember not that long ago seeing a news clip where there was a huge pile of ivory that the African government burned/destroyed just to make a statement.

They could fund enough conservation agents to wipe out poaching with what they could make in the ivory market through regulated sales..

You just can fix stupid. I agree ain't many rocket scientist over there. Seems like it would be common sense, so that takes our government out of the picture. The kickbacks they receive from the shippers out weighs the profits they could get by legal sale of ivory. I would reckon that one of those huge clubs paid for the burning of the ivory. What do you think our governement does with conficated ivory? Destory or Auction

Most of the Ivory is going to China.  They are buying up intricately carved ivory pieces for their houses.  There was a program on TV not to long ago about it.  
Some of the pieces were huge.

Saw the same news clip.  A lot of potential revenue for a country that needed it went up in smoke.  Had they put it on the open market, good chance prices would have fallen.

A while back I watched a program on ivory and it seems to me that China is the biggest problem of imported illegal ivory and by far the largest users.

it is walrus and other oceanic mammal Ivory that really gets the Fed's asking too many questions and may result in trouble or a lot of pain in the arse ...............the elephant ivory trade laws were negotiated separately from oceanic mammal ivory.......
