What's In Your Wallet ??
« on: May 23, 2013, 07:18:45 PM »
Here are the calls that I carried this spring across many a ridge and creek bottom . Being a boxcall lover , I used a shortbox and longbox stepside calls . I used a glass potcall by my good friend Gregg Guthridge and my favorite slate pot made by Bill Barker . I used my new favorite striker , the ShadeTree model dymondwood made by Stormin Torman . This striker runs like butter on every surface I tried so far . I have used it so much already that I'm surprised the tip isn't worn off . I also used my Primos Lucky Striker made in colorwood . And around my neck was my ultra nice Brian Mero trumpet w/ henbone mouthpiece . This one is as good as it gets . I use Primos double frame mouth calls .

I can't even list all that's in my vest right now as I haven't decided yet.

I will say that before I purged my vest before season last year it weighed in at a hefty 9 lbs and I had to drop some stuff.  I just had way too much stuff and was not using half of it, yet felt I had to have it with me.  No need for 5 different tube calls for instance.

I alternate what I take without duplication unless I am looking for a specific tone in something that I don't have in another (i.e. I usually carry 2 box calls: 1 longbox, 1 box.)  mouthcalls are a given, got plenty of dups with those, and three different slates (glass over slate, a Dad's Do-Dad, and maybe a crystal)

My Permar 1920 African Blackwood, an Osage Brian Mero, and my trusty Buice in Snakewood always go with me as well as my Open Biscuit, muted Biscuit, and my Strumpet.

You can never have too many calls right?

If you told me I could not carry a vest, I would carry my, mouth calls, the DO-Dad, all trumpets, the Corbett calls, and the box call.  That would all fit into or around my leg pockets and neck right?

I'm down to carrying four yes four calls with me now...

They are either longbox, hen box, two pots calls and a trumpet.  If I take the trumpet, longbox stays home and vice versa!

Never thought I'd drop to that low of calls, but it's working :)  One day, I had one pot and a jordan.  I've hunted more rain this year than anything else  *cry*
