Mississippi season opens March 15th where I hunt. David Young (drenalinld) and I are going down to hunt an area I have hunted since 2006. Public land hunting in some swamps that have lots of cottonmouths and some loud mouth gobblers. Since David has never seen the area I know just where I plan to send him. Can you say gar hole. Locals tell me there has not been a turkey in that strip of woods in 20 years. I do not think a bird will be close enough to him to even hear the Road Hen he will be running.
Then when we get together for a hunt in an area that I know will be covered up with gobblers I plan on telling him since I am old enough to be his daddy he needs to let me do the first shooting. I will let him do the calling since he sure is not half bad.
