Denny,
Steve asked me to reply to your question.
I have been involved with the contest the past two years. The following list is things that would need to be done. I am sure I have left some things out but you can look back at the past two years and see what we did.
1. Ask who wants to be in the contest. Probably need to set some minimum # of posts or at least be someone who is known on the forum to be eligible. Set a deadline for applying. There will be several that will want to sign up late and you will have to decide how to handle that.
2. Figure out how many teams you will have and divide the contestants into teams as evenly as possible from what you know about their turkey killing ability from posts they have made. You will not please everyone in your team selections. One question that will certainly come up is do you want to keep the same teams from last year or start over.
3. Decide on what rules you will play by and how you will score each team's birds. Get team names.
4. Decide on a deadline for when the contest ends.
5. Will you require pics of beard length, spur length, weight if it is used, of each kill or will you use the honor system. I think most people like to see the pics.
6. Keep a total of each team's score.
7. Determine the winning team. This sounds easy but it is not. Last year the second place team would have actually won the contest if one of the members had entered a picture of his biggest bird. I did not count it since I was on that team and did not want any second guessing. I knew he had killed the bigger bird but needed a picture to confirm.
