Very Nice job Bob. The Turpin short box that I am making is made from an orginal Tom Turpin short box, and they look just like that. I used that orginal for 13 years. I like to refer to the Turpin "bark'' as the Turpin Yawk. It is definately a throatier yelp than the Cost Style. Some days they will work to Cost Style, other days it is the Turpin. My nephew picked up a Roger Latham off ebay about a year ago and the box was vertually the same except Latham had put a bushing in the Top hat that, in my opinion, dampened the sound. In old style calls, where you tilt the lid all the way to play them, the more free the screw/lid/box, the better the yawk.
