Unfortunately the fines aren't steep enough to prevent others from doing the same in the future.
Hopefully BigTom will read this and tell of the two idiots that shot 3 cubs by him a couple of years back.

Small town, so I'm sure they'll find them.  News on TV said they cut some parts off of the bear, but wouldn't tell what.

Like letinmfly stated, in the end... I'm sure the fines will not correlate to what they should for shooting this creature.  They'll more than likely plea bargain and get off the hook.

Jim that much for sure will happen.  Our Conservation Department will make sure of that.  Problem is, they'll probably continue to hunt and not get caught :(  Not enough agents to go around...

MO law used to really lay the hammer down on turkey poachers.  The fine was per ounce of weight.  It was an extreme fine.  Then some knucklehead complained that deer and turkey should be fined equally... so they adopted the deer rules and the fines dropped significantly (or so as my grandpa told me).  I do know the punishment is the same now and it's more like a slap on the hand.

I wish they would put more bite into the punishment for sure!

I think if the bear was shot illegally, isn't it fair play to shoot the shooter illegally too?

Just another Idea....May slow down poaching a little ROTFLMBO
