Here is a Longbox I was asked to build for Eustace Winn IV. I made John a shortbox from this same special wood that really has uniqie history to it. It is hand hewnCypress from the J.C.Burris home cicra 1859, also called the Baby Doll House,Hollywood Plantation, Benoiy Mississippi. The movie Baby Doll was filmed there in 1956. I started with a walnut lid but she just didnt want to run ....landed on this hard Maple and boy she sings all the tunes now,has bloodwood inlay in it. Eustace, I sure hope you find the call for what you want and that it finds time in the Mississippi swamps . Roll a bunch with her friend.

That's a beautiful call, Jeff. I always look forward to seeing what your Tuesday's and weekends will produce! Funny how you just can't predict what wood will match best with another. I run into that with scratch boxes and their strikers! I'm sure that a lot of call makers try to force one piece to work with another and ruin calls in the process. I guess knowing when to give up and move on to another species is a sign of a true craftsman.

Awesome call Jeff, Having heard it played, I can certainly attest to the great sound. Don't think there is a more famous piece of wood in all of Bolivar County. With the restoration of the Baby Doll House almost complete, I'm sure little Eustace will be showing this call off when folks come to tour the Home or book a deer hunt at Hollywood Plantation with Eustace. I will keep you posted on the kills he makes with the call. He is not one to put a call up on a shelf. It will definately spend time in the woods up and down the River my friend.
Thanks for doing it like this! Can't wait to get it in and play her myself.
