Whew wee indeed that is one of the purdiest calls I have seen in a while...even if it did roll out of the Bobblehead shop ROTFLMBO.  That must be some supplier you got there and the dude really knows his wood.  Thank all for the Coney Island Boardwalk for that fine Ipe, pronounced (E pay) for all you southerners who just can get it rite!  No that badboy has gotta be headed for the Nat's!!

E-pay, huh? Glad SOMEBODY knows the correct pronounciation!
"Pronounciation..." bet ya'll didn't know Mississippi State boys like me 'n' St. John could spell words that long!  We don't use that word too often down here in the Mississippi Swamps.

Well Tom I will be the first to issue credit where credit is due and it seems that you have dun-good, but there are some odd fellows who happen to live near a certain Twisting Creek  *lol* that just can't seem to get past (I-pee) instead of E-pay!, but then again he just may be having a lil fun  *peep* *bannana*with this ole yankee.

I will say though, looking at the stack of Ipe lids in my shop and having used this stuff several times it is truly special and it has got to be a dead-on match for Limba.  Huh, that reminds me, if that is the case, Ole Bullock couldn't have thought that up for himself...he must have had some special assistance *lol*

That Twisting Creek car salesman did not go to Mississippi State.
Here is a question for those who use E-pay:  About where would it fall on the hardness scale?
The reason I ask is that I have entertained the thought of building an Ipe scratch box, but don't want to buy any if it is too hard.

Tom, The Ipe rests comfortably at about 3600 on the Janka Scale.  There are only 4 wood harder!  I cut a lot of it from the large timbers taken from the Coney Island Boardwalk and trust me my sharpening bill goes way up when I cut a bunch of it, but it is simply georgous wood and worth the effort.

Thanks for the info, Fargobox!  I just finished reading about Ipe and I think I will steer clear of it.  I've never had any luck with scratch boxes made entirely of the harder woods!  Might make a great striker, though!
