Been working with Jack "Pappy" Lewis on this beaut for a good while and it's been a long time coming. Since we've had mutual dealings before I proposed a trumpet build for Pappy out of a nice piece of ivory American Holly I'd been savoring. I had the idea of an all white caller but with some tinkering around with my ideas as well as Pappy's we thought a contrast in black & white would look the best. Pappy added the African Blackwood bell & stopper underlined with ivory and I powder coated the aluminum ferrel he sent me in Lava Black. By the pic it looks like a true mantle piece but I'm pretty positive it will be with me in the woods come Spring 2012. Thanks alot Pappy...I owe you big time!

W O W ----Stunning call

The black and white combination is certainly nice looking. I'd be interested to hear how it sounds being made from Holly. I've never used any wood that soft for a trumpet.
Congrats...obviously, that took a lot of work!
