Title: " COFFEE TABLE ART " Benefit for Kinsley" Auction
Post by: Shadetree Callers on October 25, 2011, 08:51:55 PM: I got a call from David Ferguson last week about a call he wanted to donate to help raise money for the Armstrong family . This is a Fencepost caller made from an old Eminence, Missouri red cedar fencepost . David's beautiful calls have been descibed as " Coffee Table Art" , so I thought that was a fitting title for this superb turkey caller. One day this past Spring , David and Steve Lumma spent some time chasing turkeys in the hills around David's home. When the mornings unsuccessful hunt was over, they decided to work on a turkey call in their down-time. They built this one together and David let Steve tune it to the way his ears liked it . David decorated the right side of the call with a barn scene so real that I can imagine myself walking up the lane . When they were done , David told Steve to take the caller home and keep it. Well last week Steve called David to come by to pick the call back up . It turned out that Steve decided to decorate the left side with some very artistic dogwoods and burned a life-like gobbler on the lid . This caller is absolutely beautiful ! It is a home run for both of the callmakers involved . Not only is it a work of art but it sounds incredible too . This one is full of turkey and would be well suited in the woods chasing gobblers . It has a nice higher pitch and starts off with a kee and rolls into a nice raspy finish . The inscription on the bottom reads that it was made on a poor day for hunting, but a great day for killing Osama Bin Laden May 1 2011 . The bidding on this call will start with David' personal bid of $125 . But I am stepping in to raise the bid to $ 150 . Bidding will run one week and end at 6 pm november 1st.

When we made this call together I figured he'd keep it for himself. When he gave it back to me a couple weeks ago, we agree'd to donate this call together for the good of little Kinsley and her family. Steve is a great artist and a true stand up family man.

Making this call with David was a great experience, and couldn't imagine a better man to share a hunt and a build with. David is a great student of the box call , and I expect his calls will be the finest to ever come out of Shannon county before it's all said and done.
