My good friend , Gregg Guthridge, has asked me to spear-head this call auction . Many of you know Kenny Crummett. He has been an NWTF member since our first year (1973). Kenny is a friend to many of us callmakers. There is a family that lives next door to Kenny , that is in need of our help right now. Tracy and Bobbi Armstrong are the parents of a sweet 5 year old Daughter named Kinsley. Recently her young life was interrupted when doctors found a large mass in her abdomen . They have identified a tumor that is so large it actually connects from her heart down to her ovaries . Doctors determined this week that she can be operated on but she will lose at least one kidney , possibly more tissue could be taken when they get inside to operate on the tumor. Surgery is scheduled for tomorrow , Wednesday September 28th .
Her family is traveling 200 miles round-trip to the University of Virginia every day so that Kinsley isn't alone through this ordeal. Tracy works in construction and puts in 15 hour days before driving 100 miles each way to be with his Daughter . This is putting an extreme hardship on them financially and this is why they need the help .
Gregg Guthridge, who is also a friend of the Armstrong family has collected donations from his friends and family and was able to send a little money to help them . Knowing that it was not enough , he decided to carve one of his awesome crow head purr-pots and donate it to raise some more money . The crow head is carved from Pa. basswood and the call body is made from zebrawood . The striker is made from osage orange and has been carved and painted to look like a real corn cob . When you turn the call over you will see the slate surface underneath . These calls are not only works of art but they sound great too .
We will start the auction today and run it for one week , ending on tuesday October 4th . If you would like to send a donation instead of bidding on the call , that is good too .
Gregg puts alot of time into his award-winning carvings so I will start the auction off with my bid of $ 200 . Here's a chance to help out a family in need and to own a carved turkey call from the NWTF First Place winning callmaker/carver from Shadow Turkey Calls !
Richard has graciously donated this beautiful henbox to this auction . What a great gesture on your part ! This will make someone a great call and serve a great purpose at the same time! Bidding has started off at $275.00 by Bill H. Don't miss out on this great call !
Please send donations to :

Bob, Thanks for the post.
Gregg, thanks for the donation.
Bill, great gesture my friend.
Bob, I sent you a PM but I will post it here. I will be away until next week but I want to make a special trumpet to be sold for this cause. I will use my #1 Sterling silver ferrule from my turkey track limited edition. I was keeping it for me but this is a great cause. This is close to my heart because I have children and my youngest one is 6. I just couldn't imagine going through anything like that. Let me know if this will work.

Bob---thanks for bringing this to our attention man, and Bill---what a gesture---you are generious .
How could ANYONE imagine what this family is going through at this time.May God bless them and their daughter !! *prayer*
Daryl, stand up gesture bud.....
I am in----lets show this family what a close nit bunch of hunters can do !!!

My heart goes out to the family and our prayer will be sent each day.
This is the 1st time I have tried to wood burn any thing on a call. I did one other first then I made this one. So this will be the second one. I can't think of a better reason to part with this call. It's a Cedar box with a Bloodwood lid and will have a Bloodwood Chalk box with it. I can't even think of what it must be like.
May God Bless You
Richard

Thanks again guys for your heart felt generosity. Your right, I too can't imagine what they are going thru.
I will post an update as I hear it .

Can anyone contribute a call to this auction? I've got one I'll put in * hi * Just tell me what to do
-
I always tell people that turkey hunters are some of the best people on this planet . This is way more than we had hoped for ! Bill , you are a very generous man and your help will be going to the right place ! Unless someone outbids you ! Good things come to good people . There are still 6 more days everyone .
Daryl and Richard , thanks so much for your generous offers to auction your calls for this cause ! That is a beautiful caller Richard, and the artwork is top-notch ! And Daryl Knowing your trumpets , I am sure you will build her a home-run which we will auction off starting when this one closes .
Times are rough for most of us but this really will help out a family in need during a terrible time. Remember that we will be accepting donations from those of you who would like to help in that way too ! Thanks in advance to all of you . Please keep her in your prayers tonight . Tomorrow is her surgery .

There are some amazing people on this site , for sure ! I have been getting several requests from callmakers and collectors who want to help this family in it's rough time. I will gladly accept any and all turkey calls or other items that any of you would like to donate ! I will run consecutive auctions back to back to hopefully bring some continued support for the Armstrong family . I am going to run an auction on turkey call junkies too so that we can reach more people that might be able to help out . Kenny Crummett and Gregg Guthridge would like to thank everyone for doing what they can ! Please keep the prayers pouring in for little Kinsley !

Its not much, but I'll kick in this owl call and matching crow call. Both are butternut & walnut. How are we working this? Do I need to send them to someone? or just keep them till the auction closes?

I would like to throw my hat into the ring, literally. I read this posting last night and it really hit home. I lost my father to cancer in 2002, he was just 58. I can't imagine what it would be like to have a 5 year old in the family with cancer. My prayers go out to Kinsley and her family. After reading this and seeing all the calls donated by other call makers, I came up with an idea right away. I set to work this morning and here's what I came up with. The trumpet is made from Pink Ivory wood and features a nickel brass ferrule, rubber lip stop and a pink acrylic mouthpiece. All 5 year old girls like pink right? I'm also including one of my camo hats and a livestrong bracelet to the winning bidder. I wear one of these bracelets every day to remind me of my dad and all those affected by cancer. I hope this call can generate a good price.

It's great to see people coming together for a cause. Stories like this pull people to do the right thing. Gregg and Bob, hats off to you all for helping this family get though this trying times with a much needed fund raiser. I not in position to donate a call yet, but I can cut a check to help out..... Just let me know where to send it. This is just another reminder what a great place this is to hang out. Great Job Rooster's for stepping up. *prayer* God bless this little girl and her family *prayer*

Here is a call I got together for the auction----it is a Wormy Chestnut and Walnut. It has Chestnut inlays in the lid and Walnut inlays in the body of the call. The wormy Chestnut comes from a salvaged barn that was built in the late 1800's. Hope it does well for the benefit ---it couldnt go to anything more deserving. Every sense I read this story---it brings the gifts I have home with my 3 girls. I hope the funds this great site raises helps this family in need of prayers and support. May God bless them *prayer*.

I been out of the loop for awhile now and haven't posted in a long time but check in from time to time.
I hate that I had to see such sad news after being away from the forum so long. Kenneth Crummett is a personal friend though we have never met in person. I just talked with him Sunday. I can remember several times that I almost lost my middle son and the operations he had to endure. Thankfully he has grown in to a fairly healthy young man and God has a lot to do with that. My heart goes out to this little girl and her family.
I would like to offer one of my Cherry/Glass Purrr D Pots and striker up for auction I'll send it to Bob or whom ever it needs to go to in order to help a little. Please let me know where and to who.
