Title: Headed to MS
Post by: WillowRidgeCalls on September 24, 2011, 12:36:59 PM
This Gibson is a reproduction of an original Gibson of a friend of John's. She is made of canary over snakebelly cherry, and has that deep throated rasp with a high start and a nice kee kee. Mr.Henderson doesn't know the call is coming, so a big thanks to his boss and to John for getting me the pictures of his original call to copy. It took about 13 straight hours of my old style burning (hot nails and flame) to get everything burnt on this call, from what I could make out from the pictures, I think it should be pretty close. John, hope your buddy has some fun with it in the woods next spring.
Thanks for looking. Scott

Great job Scott.  I know Joel will be pleased.  He is leading a communion group at my church tomorrow night, so I will get his response first hand.   My Friend Wade Wineman also has some Kentucy coffee bean trees up East of the Slash, so I want to get you to make one for him when Wade gets me the wood.   I want you to do it just like Joel's.

Here are the pictures of the original that Scott had to work from.  A true work of Art by Mr. Gibson for Joel's Grandfather.

Thanks Scott

As a footnote, You will notce the blue carpenter's chalk on the call.  Joel told me me he actually took it hunting till he found out what he had.  He asked me to make him one of mine, and he put the decorative in a lockbox.
