Title: East of the Slash call from John
Post by: jmck on September 12, 2011, 10:08:07 AM
Here is a Walnut bodied East of the Slash call with a Snakebelly Cherry lid on her. It arrived Saturday and it was anticipated let me say the least every sense I played the one John so graciously donated to the auction. This call has different birds in it and its ease of play is surprising. The left side is full of gobbler talk and the right side---oh it is sweet. This one even has a kee kee in her which as John says its not often one turn out a kee kee. The right side is raaspy as ya want it and it will also tone down to some real soft talk.
John, the anticipation for the call lived up to the expectation when I played her---its a good one for sure thanks for the call friend !!!

The pleasure was all mine.  Now I have to wait in Anticipation, as I am working in North Ms. and you said that long box is waiting on my return.  That will be my first and I can't wait to get back to Greenville.

Thanks my friend.

Thanks, John, my @##!  That's my call!  *cry* Here's the story, folks:

Just before dawn yesterday, I heard a noise in my house.  I grabbed by trusty .38 and headed down the hall, still half asleep.  The next thing I knew, I woke up bound and gagged and those two hillbillies were searching my house for that box.  I heard Billy Bob say, "I got it!  The boss is gonna be happy!" and I heard them running out the door.  They were gone in a flash-or rather a puff of oil smoke.  They had the biggest---no, wait---SECOND BIGGEST---ears I've ever seen on anybody!

 Jeff

The security folks here assure me, you and/or those two Dumbo eared holligans of yours will not pull off what happened to poor Tom! It would be an awfull shame to have to come vist you in our local whoscow. Bubba, I am told has been really lonely, now, for a few years and would be very happy if he had some fresh company to hug and play with!  ROTFLMBO ROTFLMBO ROTFLMBO ROTFLMBO

Here is the Cutting Call Bill,
I wanted to see what she looked like anyway.  The Gator will be a little lower profile.  They really do have two different functions when working birds.  I used the grain on this call to get the volume and rasp.  The Gator Gobbling will have the grain running different so the Chatoance really comes through in that myrtle.  That is some fine wood.

Oh, Bill!
You may never see that call in person.  Watch for an old Toyota with blue oil smoke, my friend.  Sounds like the car salesman is lookin' to expand his collection again!

Tom, I will have to make another trip your way a month or so.  I have been putting a lot of mahogany and walnut in a box for you.  It is too small for my boxes but will be just right for scratchers.  I should have a bunch, plus some of my son's front doors for you as well.  I'll  bring your call when I come also.

the call looks great John----sense Tom traded a scratcher and a franklin for mine.....ya take a toyota truck that pours blue smoke and two ninkapoops that will work for very little, fpr that fresh Myrtle  ;)----they are quite resourceful though !!!
Had to try Bill---even a car salesman couldnt do that to ya friend  ;)

Hey Tom, I have some more of that Myrtlewood if you care to give it a try for some scratch boxes. Let me know what size you need.

Bill

Jeff, I have some cut for you, also.

That myrtle aught to make one great sound in those scratchers Tom.  Hold me one after you make Bill one, and that will finish out the trade with the Ben Franklin. *aah*
