Well, the Blue Blooded Kentuck'ian cannot post pictures so I am going to attempt to get this done for Brent and Porter.
Steve Lumma has been working on some designs in his spare time with Brent and Porter for all of us here on the Roost to adopt as a new logo to use for shirts and hats. The guys persued a simple yet destinctive design that will be adopted as the logo for the site. Keep in mind that it could have been done very deatailed and eloborate, but when the hats are done, alot of the detail will be lost in the stiching on a smaller canvas such as a hat. So, for this application....simple is best. Steve said the colors can be altered in any manner. Steve provided a choice of two for us to vote on and adopt. So, take a look at these two and get involved and help the group make a decesion on which one to go with so Mr. Stoner can get moving on getting the hats done for us.
Keep in mind the colors can be changed up to fit the backgorund such as Camo on a hat.The hats are going to be stiched not screen printed---the goal is a great looking hat....not something cheesy and cheap!!!
The poll will run for 4 days sop get involved as a group to help determine which drawing from Steve will be used. From all of us here at the Roost----a big THANKS to Steve Lumma for providing his artistic touch for the logo!!!

I voted for the second design, but I think it should be all yellow. The black letters will get lost in the color of a camo hat. JMO

That's why I voted for the first. Steve, nice job on the logos.

first just for the visability
-
remember---the colors can be changed up from what is shown----they will have to be where it will show up good against camo for sure
-
I voted for the first drawing but I also agree all the same color.

I don't remember which one I voted for *peep* Just kidding. I voted # 1 option...

Could you show us the first one with the white spaces in top and bottom bars filled with yellow?

With all due respect to the design, I think that the general public wouldn't have a clue what the logo stands for. I would rather see a block lettered "OsageRoost.com" in gold. I believe it would have a better chance of getting the interest of others and spreading the word!

The design is great if you are a Roost Member..I agree with Tom, if our goal is to promote the site to others then it needs to be spelled out..I dont think that anyone outside this community will have a clue what that means...IMO..

Brands and Logo's are built by Advertising and Marketing. Osage Roost will be spelled on the back of the hat. The more people see them around they will catch on. I agree the color of the logo should be in Gold.... Really stands out on a Camo hat!

I am with longbeard48 on this one. With nothing but due respect to Steve for his talents and time, I am concerned that this will never 'read' once it is on a hat. Much of my work, not as a call maker is about graphic communications and try as I might with efforts to illustrate my ideas in many ways, I often return to KISS, Keep It Simple Stupid--not in the literal sense of course. A change in color will not allow this design to read clearly. This is an opportunity to truly represent the best web site out there for what we do and who we are and believe it or not, we will be judged by this by others so this is a chance to put our best beards ;D ;) forward. I know Steve can "whip" up other options and there may be reasons and knowledge for the font design that I am not aware. Overall, I like the look, but could it be eased a bit?? so the ROOST reads betterJMO.

With what Brent stated about his initial plan to write out in back of the cap in stiching -Osage Roost-----DO YOU FEEL THAT WILL BE ENOUGH TO CLEAR IT UP.
Logo's are by design simple -usually the best ones are the most simple--its advertising that makes them stick and create recgonation---we do not have that avenue to get the word out.
-
Jeff, I agree on the advertising and all the more reason IMO to simplify if possible. No I don't think the OR on the back of the hat helps...the brand, front of the hat is what folks see and the last time I checked I don't remember looking at the back of some dudes backside...errrr hat, ROTFLMBO *bannana* when he walked past.
How many people look at the back of Toyota or Lexus...most look at the emblem and know immediately what it is---I'm just saying. Here again, this is a great opportunity and I would hate to see us move in haste before the gobbler peeks & periscopes as we pull the trigger too soon.

What fargobox said.

Gold or yellow really shows up well on most any camo.

Personally, I like them both! Whichever one wins, I'll like! *up*

I agree with what you all are saying to a point. I like the KISS rule RkLu This is a brand new logo, so we don't have the already recognized logo and exposer in place like the other company logo's mentioned. That takes a lot of $$$$ to get that. We will have to..... B-Ready ;D to answer the question "Dude what's that mean on your hat"?? ??? That's how you spread the word and educate them about the forum. The next time they see it they will then know what it means. Word of mouth advertising is your best and most cost effective way to build your brand and sell your product. I'm all about getting it right here in the beginning and have a logo we are all proud to wear but we are dealing with a very small canvas with the hat's and the more you put in that canvas the more likely it's going to get real busy and take away from the design and what were trying to do real fast. Remember simple is better! When we do a shirt..... We'll have more canvas to work with and a lot more options. Keep your Idea's coming!! *cheers*

Hmmm
I was expecting to see a drawing of a gobbler roosting in a hedge tree. *awake*

Both logos are nice, but I was partial to #1! *up*

Sorry guys... Steve got me some awesome drawings and they have been scanned and digitized. We went without power and my graphics guy has been gone due to a death of his grandfather. I believe we are on track now for some nice hats!!!
