I got some disturbing news today. A good buddy of mine, that hunts the same military reservation that I do, said he went to renew his permit for bow season here in Georgia. He said he had to "qualify" with the bow before they would issue the license. No big deal for me since I don't bowhunt. The alarming part was, he said before they would issue a permit before gun season, you had to register your gun with the post. By February this is suppose to be in full force. Any time you were on post, you are to have the permit on your person. If you loan your gun to someone else, they have to have the permit with them. I've heard the military is training soldiers to unarm American citizens. This is the first step. When they begin this, where do you think they will start? Do you feel the noose tightening?
-
wow Mark.....that is another little step thet seems to be tightening on our sport. Not only is that unusual, but our secuturary of state has signed a
resolution with NATO of all things that is threatening also. Dont think for a minute that the liberal Eric Holder and Obama's staff wants the same. Not only is the way of life and the values our country was founded on and made great by is threatened.
All the more reason to know who we vote in and their positions on our lifestyle and given rights. They have no right to attack our constitutional right to bear arms!!!
-
The qualifying for the bowhunting was for the military installation only, not for the state. Yeah, Jeff, I think I will have to find me somewhere else to hunt. We need a full turnover in Washington.

I dont want to climb up on my soap box here ....but UNTIL we demand TERM LIMITS----all we are ever going to get is the same----life long politicians that have their agendas ahead of our wishes >!!

A bow hunters safety course has been mandatory on National Wildlife Reserves for many years now......at least ten.......Do I agree with it.....heck no, but its been in effect.

I need to agree with not very many good politicains but I have to disagree with term limits. The people of Missouri voted in term limits several years ago. Now the politicians are learning what to do for the first term then lining their pockets the second term. When someone new is voted in, then people take time and money to lobby and teach newly elected officials what budgets and programs are all about. About the time they get a handle on things they start to worry about "what next" and start setting themselves up for when their term expires. When we voted for term limits then we voted to take away our own right to vote in who we want. If a politician is not what their constituants want then they should vote them out. If the politician is doing a good job then they should have the right to keep them in office. Now special interest money is more prominant and effective than ever before. I've seen first hand what this has done to the state of Missouri. It's not good. In my opinion that is. Think about it? Again I agree that we have a ham strung government and non productive people in place but we shouldn't be anxious to worsen the problem and take away our own right to elect who we want.
Again, think past the current frustration and dissatification of our current elected officials.

There will never come a day in this country that a standing army of the united states tries to disarm citizens.

Dont bet on it, we never thought we would see a Black Muslim in the White House either.

There is an astronomical difference in the skin color and religious affilliation of the POTUS and disarming citizens. It will never happen so long as our current form of government remains.
Having said that, there is no doubt there are some who would want that. It will never become a reality though.

i hope holder getts his walking papers over this fast and furious fiasco.

well seeing as i was the one who told Mark bout it i guess i will add my 2 cents in.....i have hunted Ft. Stewart my whole life and this is the first time they have done anything like this....they claim it is for safety reasons....the archery quals...yeah i can see that....you would be surprised how many couldnt hit a paper plate at 20 yrds wit a crossbow and scope *aah*...now the gun registration is another thing....they claim the new general is a safety nut....a few yrs ago they had an accident and couldnt figure out who did it....so they seem to think by regis... gun make and calibers that if something happens they can get a better idea of what or who happened....as i see it some have said they wer wanting to shut the base down to puplic for hunting and this could be a big help in that....but as far as them using it to take guns all they have to do is pull records of gun sales from dealers and would have a lot longer list....but who knows...if they do show up they better be in a tank cuase i aint goin down easy.... *cheers*

I had an X BIL who use to live in Australia, who said the same thing about that country. He moved back here because one day the Govt. said, turn in your guns. Don't be fooled by assuming certain things "can't" happen. No one I know ever thought we could loose our AAA rating, either! I never thought I would see our military shoot Hippies at Kent State...........either, but it happend!

YEP that's what Canada and Australia thought too.

With all due respect, it WONT happen so long as this is the United States.
I'm all for the conspiracy theories, black helicopter watching and tin foil hat wearing. The thought that it could ever be regulated or pass in the Supreme Court is not possible. It is a basic fundamental liberty that is a building block to our form of government.

No one thought the president we have today would be elected either. No one ever thought that healthcare bill would pass either. Since when has congress ever listened to anything anyone has had to say? It has been a long time since that's happened. Nobody ever thought they would allow gays in the military either. No one ever thought they would allow gays to marry and adopt children either...... We still live in the greatest country there is but times are changing fast.
Had forgotten about Kent State, Bill.

im not sayin it couldnt or wont ever happen...just think that if it ever came down to it we would have another civil war on our hands...i just dont think that most people would take it kindly to the gov tryin to take our right to bear arms...if i comes to it i just believe they would have a fight on their hands...but that may just be me...
