A few weeks ago, I made a post on one of Lamar Williams' pot calls. I said I had a longbox from him that one side sounded like *poo* (poor chose of words to begin with). Some how Lamar got wind that I had one of his boxes that I was dissatisfied with. He called me up and asked that I send the call back to him. I sent the call back after 9 years of ownership. Lamar called me after receiving the call because he noticed that I had broke the original screw off. Lamar glues his in, so don't mess with it. I told him the box did not sound right to me, after a couple years of hunting with it; and, I was trying to adjust the screw, either up or down, to see which sounded best. He informed me that's when I should have sent it back to him. He is 100% right. I should have sent it back then. Even though I placed the screw right behind the other one, he said it would never sound right where it was. Any way, Lamar drilled the old screw out, plugged it and installed a new screw where it's suppose to be. Now I have a longbox good as new. Remember, before you get on a forum and run someone's call down, give the callmaker a chance to make it right.

Haven't been posting much lately, been snowed under at work with a ton of paper work to close out a job.

Excellent post!

Mark I'm glad in the end you were satisfied and glad you sent it back!
This goes to show how passionate call maker are and how (when given the chance) they will make things right!
-
I would always contact the callmaker first if there was a problem with their calls. In fact, almost all the callmakers that I have personally dealt with ALWAYS told me that if I wasn't satisfied with their call, then send it back for a refund or they would make it right. I've been lucky.....never had to send a call back for any reason! ;D

It doesn't get better than that. No callmaker want one of their calls out there if it doesn't sound right.. congradulations to both of you.. great post.

I`m glad to hear that everything turned out great! Excellent callmakers stand behind their work! RkLu

Especially one from Lamar Williams. The box of his I have is one of the best sounding calls I've got.

I built a call for a guy late last winter...he was dead set on a certain call I had posted...well between the time it was finished and when I sent it, about 4 weeks, something happened to it with some early humidity we got and the sound faded/warped and I just couldn't get it back to how I wanted without risking damage to the rails. He said to send it anyway so he could hunt it with his dad. He said he loved it, it called in 2 toms but they hung up, not the calls fault. Nonetheless, it has bugged me since then *aah* and while he doesn't know it I just finished a new call that I am sending to him simply because the 1st call took a turn on me and I keep thinking about it. While this is not the same scenario, it is directly related to customer service and for me that ranks equal to the sound quality in my calls.

True customer service is becoming a lost art! Good post!

Good to hear of it Mark.
I do not know a single call maker that does not stand behind his work.

Just saw this one. Glad to hear it worked out positive for ya Mark. I personally have never had a issue w
Like that, but with the makers I have got to know, I am sure there is not one I know that cares about their work that wouldn't hesitate an iota to do the same thing Lamar did to make a owner happy with what they got. It's good to deal with so many call makers that stand behind and take pride in what they make.
Thanks for the update, we all like hearing positive outcomes *up*

Lamar Williams is one of the most genuine callmakers out there in my opinion. A true gentleman that takes pride in making a nice box call.

You took some good advice and learned a valuable lesson. Congrats to you! Lamar has built his reputation by doing exactly what he did in your case. I'm not surprised he called and worked w/ you, to get the call fixed correctly. *up* *up* *up* *up*

Its take a big man to own up and say they where wrong. I commend you on doing it. I wish I could do it myself more. Thanks for posting and I am glad it worked out for both of you.
