Title: trumpet yelpers??????
Post by: hoobilly on June 21, 2011, 11:06:21 AM
I am going to be hunting in Ky this fall. Looking for a nice trumpet and wanting input from all ya'll.

I dont care how cheap, or expensive the call is, just looking for a user friendly, huntable trumpet.

If your a call maker, or collector, please throw some gas on my fire and fan the flames for me!

thanks!

I am brand new to the use of trumpets. I am like Steve---get my first one from Mudpuppy and its easy for a beginner.Think I am going to be able to learn this one for sure---its user friendly and I like the sounds I am hearing from it as I learn the right way to use one of these instruments . There are alot of fine trumpet makers here and I am sure I will get to them also----

If you can make chicken noises then you are on the way.  *lol*
Lots of practice is next and learn to not pull so much air are the big things.
And did I say practice?

Without a doubt Lon Trice makes the best trumpet I have played. Exceptionally great calls. Steve Lumma also makes a pretty mean trumpet. Dewey Johnson makes a mighty fine trumpet as well. Then you can look at nationals, Rev. Mike Almond took first and Kehl Hilbert took second. Yes, Kehl is my brother, but that's not why I am listing him. He makes a really good trumpet. Anyone of them should be able to set you up with a trumpet. Hope this helps. It feels like I am forgetting some people to list here.  Bill Hinkle could tell you many more I'm sure.

I can vouch for Craig also.... I have one of his they are killer.. RkLu... I never played one of Timbo's but I've heard nothing but good stuff about all of his calls. Oh yea, check out Old Geezer (Ralph Permar) He has the some killer stuff! There's Daryl and Blackfalcon also ..... Again all top shelf callmaker's. I'm liking trumpets more and more and like everybody else has said..... Practice!!.... makes ya' better!!

I got two good easy to use trumpets. The first was made by Michael Buckner and the second was made by Darrel Gibson. I have contacts for both if you need them.                                                                                                                                                                                  (http://www.jesseshunting.com/photopost/data/500/medium/1_MG_Buckner.jpg)                                                                               (http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/medium/IMG_3375_A.JPG)
