I contacted ole Witter north of the Mason Dixon line some time ago to do me a call. I told him I never guide the guide, he was open to do whatever his creative heart wanted. We have talked over time and he was asking me questions that led up to what he did with my call....un knowingly to me totally. He listens well let me say.
He called me Friday and told me he had USPS'd the call to my home address....let me say it was a chore getting to the call today, it was sent signed delivery and no one was home when the postman came.I had to see this thing......TODAY !!!!!
Scott has taken a piece of Ipe wood for the top and bottom and added his touches of TigerMaple and Walnut and Cocobolo endblocks with the body made of Douglas Fur. The entire call complements istelf greatly.
Next, he did the unreal scene work on both sides. He has painted a scene of my hunting dog Buddy on one side and a mountain turkey hunting scene complete with cross fences and barns just like 'down here". The detail in this work is flat out un unbelievable.
Now ya ask, it looks great but how does it sound.....lets say it spits feathers when ya play it. This is a turkey killing machine. The call has great sound and more importantly, its ease of play is top shelf.
Scott, as far as my opnion goes, ya hit a homerun my friend. I couldnt be any happier man. This call has it all for me.

It was without a doubt a pleasure to build this call, but then they all are, however, I did take some artistic liscense :D as they say. For the record, the name of my call making business is Whole-Grain Box Calls and the name of the box chamber is Douglas Fir, not Fur, but hey, what can you expect from a redneck who sells cars ROTFLMBO ROTFLMBO *lol* In all seriousness though, I was nervous to build a call for a great call maker, especially one who's head is STILL swollen from the 2010 Nationals, so I am quite pleased to hear that I nailed the sound as well.
The painting really came about almost accidental and it was never intentional. I had done the wood burning scene of the turkeys and when done I said oh sh *poo*!!, I can't read the image...there was too much detail and the scene was muddy. Now what??? I asked my wife, who is also graphically talented, what's wrong with this picture and she knew immediately, okay smart-alick, so how to fix it? Well that's easy, just add some paint--crap, I never thought of that and within a few more hours of tense decision making this is what I came up with and now that it's done I like the combo of the wood burning and the paint.
I was thinking originally of burning a cool rattle snake--seriously, but was afraid ole "Snakeboots" would be skeered to pick it up and hunt with it *lol* and then I thought I would do a road kill scene with Jeff pulling up along side with his truck to get dinner, but was concerned his wife might come and hunt me down >!! *lol*
Glad you like her Jeff and just because it looks cool, don't ever be afraid to spill some turkey blood on it next season!!

Scott that call is definately a work of art and very detailed. You did a beautiful job on that one and Jeff you are very fortunate to have that call in your collection. Congrats. to both of you!
