Title: Working Calls Made by Whitt
Post by: hunter22 on June 04, 2011, 09:13:41 AM
I just recently added another call made by Whitt to my collection and wanted to post what I have made by him. These are what I consider real hunting calls. Not the knock out hand carved stuff he does so well but his Field Grade hunters. The short box on the left is a Walnut over Willow and the short box on the right is a Walnut over Poplar. The Willow box has been the demise of two big gobblers. The long box in the center is a Cedar over Butternut and it will play the soft turkey talk or get loud and nasty. A true master callmaker.

There is no denying that any call by a master like Mr. Whitt are something to behold.  The design is unique and I love the fact that he has been so successful with this innovative approach

Fine looking callers for sure. I have #8 of the long box series (Neil Cost Butternut). You might want to reconsider hunting with it. The only one sold on ebay went for almost $450.00! *gobble* *gobble* Gary   *up* *up*

What year was that call made?  I have a Mahogany w/cedar lid long box from him that was #11 and dated 7/15/02  A retired caller that has earned it's spot on the shelf after putting a beard or two on the wall for me.

I think Whitt made 11 of the calls Gary is referring to early in January of 2011. I believe he sold 10 of these calls. They were made from Butternut that Neil Cost gave Whitt and Whitt mentions that on the lid of these calls. But heck, anything that sounds this good needs to go to the woods a couple times anyway.

GSLAM95 , that call you have is one of the very first Long boxes I made ,in fact it is the eleven'th one made. I come out with my Long boxes in 2002. That year I only made a handfull of long boxes , a few from Mahogany and a few from butternut, both with cedar lids.

Whitt's calls are Pure Turkey. Carved, none carved, all are Killers.

His very name carries confidense in the woods, when his signature is on your Box.

One can only imagine the #'s of Birds Harvested with Whitt's call's.

Today more than ever, we are graced with many, many fine call Makers, Whitt's Name and Reputation for Sound, will remain forever burned on the Top Row of Turkee Bird Hunting History, Well Done Whitt, Congrats on some Fine One's Rick.
